Supporting Our Troops - Some Kids that Get It

Kids know what Heroes are - and how to say "Thank You."

Received via email:

I asked my 7th grader if she would like to get some kids at school to write letters to the soldiers:

We got 149 letters in 2 days. The entire 7th and 8th grade was enthusiastic and participated. One 3 rd grade class was able to participate.

Just a few from the little kids are attached. I thought you might like to see these.

Lisa M-----

Here are a few excerpts (click the picture for a larger version):

From Nick: "Thank you for protecting our country...we really appreciate it...we hope Santa will give you a good present."

From Maggie: "My brother went to boot camp. I'm not old enough to go to boot camp. I'm only eight ... even though you're in irack, Santa's still seeing if you're noughty or nice. Thank you for spending your time in irack."

From Zack: "thank you for serving us and guard us from evil...everyone is praying for you."

There are more than a few chuckles to be gained, along with sincere good wishes for our Heroes.

Lisa's also promised to send a picture of the more than 120 very special cards that she got for our deployed heroes, and I'll post it when it arrives.

A big HOOAH to Lisa and the kids!

A Call to Arms

From Lt. Smash, via Sgt. Hook and Echo9er:

SITUATION: THE CENTRAL FRONT in the War on Terror is now on Capitol Hill.
One need not be young or even able-bodied to enlist in this campaign. Simple literacy is sufficient. If you feel that our Civilization is worth defending; if you believe Liberty is worth fighting for; if you know in your heart that Freedom will Prevail, then I have a message for you:

I WANT YOU

I have no more patience for critics, bench-warmers, and spectators. It’s time to put down your pom-poms, get down from the bleachers, and take the field. If you lack the will, courage, or stamina for this fight, I have no further use for you. You are dismissed.

Follow my lead, or get out of the way.

Smash is sending out 4 seperate missions:

MISSION ONE: Call Congress
MISSION TWO: Talk radio
MISSION THREE: Letter to the Editor
MISSION FOUR: Write Congress

Sgt Hook - This We'll Defend

I had posted earlier in the week suggesting some of you might want to send a card or letter to your wounded Soldiers, Marines, Airmen, Sailors, and/or Coast Guardsmen at Walter Reed Army Medical Center this holiday season. I’ve since received an email from the wonderful folks over at Soldier’s Angels suggesting the same be done for those recovering in the many other military hospitals around the world. So, if you’d like some names and addresses, drop me an email and I’ll get them to you. You could have an impact on your wounded warriors during a challenging time in their lives. Sgt Hook out.

Welcome Home to a Hero!

Welcome Home to my adoptee, Clif, who emailed yesterday to say he is safely back in the States!

Clif is one heck of a hero - he volunteered last year to extend for a second deployment in Iraq to train his original unit's replacements!

(You made it back just in time for some real New England weather, Clif!)

Thanks for all you've done for all of us, Clif. It has been an honor to be your Soldiers' Angel.

My best to you and your family for Christmas and the New Year.

Please join me in welcoming Clif home - leave your messages in the comments section!
