My Hero...

Carrie sends this picture of her Hero Jimmy, currently serving with the 1st Infantry Division:

Carrie says, "Even though his wife and children miss him terribly, we are proud of him and what he is doing and we stand behind him 100%."

We do too, Carrie. Thanks to both of you and your family for all you are doing for all of us.

Jimmy - Keep Your Helmet On! We're proud of you each and every day. Stay safe.

Through the Eyes of a Hero

Suzanne sent this picture, taken by her son's girlfriend, Jenna, a Hero who was stationed at Fort Hood before her deployment:

According to Jenna, the picture "was taken at a small airfield in [location edited] Iraq. OH58-D Kiowa Warrior...in the background with the concertina wire on the ground.

Jenna, the picture is awesome - thank you for all you do. Keep Your Helmet On - Take care, and stay safe!

Appeal For Redress...

Tuesday, I posted this headline in the news of the day:

Military Members Speak out Against War

As I noted, if you actually took a look at the story, you'd find out that they were talking about 20 "Appeal for Redress" members, and 100 supporters - hardly a powerhouse movement in the military.

But there's a lot more misrepresentation where "Appeal for Redress" is concerned - and the Mudville Gazette called it months ago:

While some of the information uncovered herein has since made it's way into smaller media outlets, most major mainstream media sources are still reporting this effort as a "grass roots" campaign. Nothing could be further from the truth.
The Moonbattery is going to get worse before it gets better, folks. Get the scoop - or refresh your memory - on "Appeal for Redress" at the Mudville Gazette.

One other Internet stop you want to make today is over at Michelle Malkin's blog - she's just back from Iraq and has a post you won't want to miss.

UNIFIED SECURITY — Iraqi army soldiers and U.S. Army paratroopers provide security for Siniyah while the city’s security force is rebuilt. More than 100 police are needed to provide security for the city of 30,000 citizens. U.S. Army photo by Spc. Joshua R. Ford Story
