Happy Thanksgiving

This Thanksgiving, I am especially grateful to those who have served, currently serve, or will serve, protecting our nation and all the freedoms we are blessed with - and bringing freedom to others.

THANKSGIVING PRAYER

Dear Lord
please hear this prayer.
This year, I'll leave an empty chair
to mark the spot
where someone should have been.
My son is home
but many sons are not;
and so I thought
I'd say a prayer for them -
and for those who wait,
hoping that it's not too late.
Lord, when you see that empty space
meant for those who haven't come home yet -
Let them know -
I didn't forget.

While this was written for POW/MIAs

It also has meaning for us now in these troubled days

Blessings to all

Quote of the Day
IT IS THE SOLDIER
It is the Soldier, not the minister
Who has given us freedom of religion.

It is the Soldier, not the reporter
Who has given us freedom of the press.

It is the Soldier, not the poet
Who has given us freedom of speech.

It is the Soldier, not the campus organizer
Who has given us freedom to protest.

It is the Soldier, not the lawyer
Who has given us the right to a fair trial.

It is the Soldier, not the politician
Who has given us the right to vote.

It is the Soldier who salutes the flag,
Who serves beneath the flag,
And whose coffin is draped by the flag,
Who allows the protester to burn the flag.
