Marine from Weapons Company, 3rd Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment, speaks into his radio while on patrol with the Iraqi Police. It was the first combined patrol in Habbaniyah that the two forces have done and marked a turning point for the future of Iraq. The Iraqi Policeman pictured here wearing a ski mask is one of hundreds of policemen in Al Anbar province who, despite the constant danger to their lives for simply going to work, turn out to clean up the streets of their hometowns. Marines from 3rd Battalion, 6th Marine Regiment, for whom this is their first combat tour, are faced with an array of missions that can be overwhelming to inexperienced Marines. Luckily, they have battle tested Marines like Cpl. Dennis W. Simon, 28, from Leesburg, Fl., to lead them. The short time between deployments has given birth to a generation of Marines tasting combat for the second, third, or even fourth time. Photo submitted 02/20/2007, Taken by Lance Cpl.
