PERSIAN GULF (July 6, 2007) - Flight deck personnel prepare to launch an F/A-18F Super Hornet assigned to the "Black Knights" of Strike Fighter Squadron (VFA) 154 from the flight deck of the Nimitz-class aircraft carrier USS John C. Stennis (CVN 74). The John C. Stennis Carrier Strike Group is on a scheduled deployment in support of maritime operations and the global war on terrorism. Maritime operations help set the conditions for security and stability in the maritime environment, as well as complement counter-terrorism and security efforts of regional nations.
