Today I am in a very historic place.
In the 19th century, an American lawyer, after affecting the release of a British prisoner, wrote a poem on the back of a letter in his pocket. The poem told of a flag he saw flying in the quiet morning air above a fort, after a night of intense bombardment. Later set to music, it is one that every American ear has no doubt heard.
This city, one of the nation's 20 largest, spent the years of the U.S. Civil War largely under occupation. In the World Wars that followed years later, she was a shipmaking and supply center for the war effort.
But she isn't all work - in her off time, this city is the site of one of the jewels in horseracing's Triple Crown.
As far as Heroes go, she has had her share. Among them are the 122 members of the Army National Guard's 243rd Engineer Company, who returned here only a few weeks ago from a year in Iraq. (Welcome Home, Job Well Done, and THANK YOU!!)

So, Where Am I?
First to answer correctly via email wins a copy of "The Blog of War," by none other than BlackFive himself - Hurry, and somebody might beat Margaret to the draw :)
UPDATE: We have a winner. Both Laurie and David correctly identified my location as Baltimore, MD. Laurie has already gotten her copy of "The Blog of War," and has asked that I give the copy up for grabs here to someone else. David, it's all yours!
