birds fly low
Soldiers standing
in a row...

Mother's sitting
hands are clenching
teeth are gritting
soul is flinching....

Screaming "no"
in inner silence
agonizing feeling
senses reeling

Her son, a father,
the nephew and the brother
has fallen now
like many another.

For Iraqi Freedom
he has died
The flag is folded
her tears have dried.

Was it worth it?
She must believe
her hero's courage
set them free.
