How Much is a Backpack Worth?

It costs about $50 to fund a Soldiers' Angels backpack for the wounded.

But its worth is far higher than that (letter edited by me):

"To all the 'Soldiers' Angels,'

On behalf of all the doctors, nurses, Corpsmen, and Marines at ---------'s surgical company in Iraq, thank you so much for the great backpacks!

My name is Donna S-------- and I'm a [officer] in the Navy Nurse Corps stationed with the Marines at [location]. I can't begin to describe how good it feels to hand out those goody-filled backpacks to my patients - the wounded - all Marines, Soldiers, and Sailors that come into our hospital. To date, we've seen over 420 patients since our company took over in February. Our patients have a wide array of illnesses & injuries, ranging from minor to life-threatening. Several have given the ultimate sacrifice.

When a trauma patient comes in, they are usually flown in with no time to stop and pack a bag. We cut all their clothes off to expose their injuries and treat them. These patients are the ones we give out the "Soldiers' Angels" backpacks to. They are perfect! The patients have enough supplies in their bags for at least 5 days, which gives them time to heal & recover. We love the backpacks, and giving them to our troops is a most rewarding experience. Thank you so much for supplying them to us.

I don't know if the guys who are getting the backpacks are writing to you. Some of them may be too tired or hurt. But I can personally assure you that they are being used and they are very much appreciated! Thanks so much!

Sincerely,

Donna S-----------

And thanks from the entire company!
