TALKING WITH HEROES
April 16, 2006 Talk Show Guests

Colorado Springs, Colorado, April 11, 2006, Talking with Heroes announces the guest list for the
April 16, 2006 Talk Show. Talking with Heroes gives our men and women in the military a forum to share their mostly untold experiences while serving and helping the people in Iraq, Afghanistan and in other areas of the world in which they serve. The Talking with Heroes Talk Show which airs Live on Sunday evenings beginning at 5pm (PST) 8pm (EST) also interviews leaders from military support groups, companies, entertainers and others who help and support our troops. Guests for the April 16, 2006 Show are:

U.S. Army Reserve Major Chuck Larson also Founder of Families United for our Troops and Mission. As a major in the U.S. Army Reserve, Chuck served for a year in Iraq during Operation Iraqi Freedom and was awarded the Bronze Star for meritorious service in combat. Stationed at LSA Anaconda in the heart of the Sunni Triangle, Chuck was in charge of the command’s legal affairs and spearheaded its humanitarian missions.

Upon his return from Iraq, Chuck founded Families United for Our Troops and Their Mission. Families United is a grassroots coalition of families who have lost loved ones in the war, families with loved ones in the combat zone, and returning veterans. Families United works to honor our fallen heroes and to get the good news out about all that our men and women have accomplished in the War on Terrorism.

Chuck was elected to the Iowa Legislature in 1992 – first, to the Iowa House and more recently to the Iowa Senate. He has served as the House Judiciary Chairman, passing the nation’s toughest laws on methamphetamines, and as the House Economic Development Committee Chairman, making Iowa a more competitive environment to attract and retain high paying jobs. He currently serves as the Senate Ethics Chairman.

Deborah Tainsh, Step Mom to Fallen Hero U.S. Army Sgt Patrick Tainsh who was killed by a roadside bomb in Iraq on February 11, 2004. Writing initially to sort out her own grief, Deborah captured the raw and tender moments of her family’s sorrow and remembrance. Her book Heart of a Hawk: One family’s sacrifice and journey toward healing brings readers into the Tainsh family’s living room as Deborah and her husband, USMC Sgt.Major (Ret) David L. Tainsh, hear the tragic news of their son’s death and begin their struggle to toward acceptance and peace.

A portion of all proceeds from Heart of a Hawk is donated to the Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors. As a TAPS mentor, Deborah talks with military families across the nation, sharing her family's continuing journey of grief, love, and hope while celebrating a son's courageous life with the message that "our children expect no less courage and giving from us than what they showed the world."

Jason West, Editor of GX: The Guard Experience magazine and Keith Kawasaki, News and Lifestyles will be “Talking with Heroes” about its embedded wartime journalism project known as “Running with the Bulls.” “Running with the Bulls” is an 18-month feature that focuses on the training and deployment of more than 4,000 Soldiers of the 34thInfantry Division’s 1st Brigade Combat Team (BCT), also known as the Red Bulls, as part of Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF).

Simultaneously, "Running with the Bulls" pays tribute to the sacrifice and strength of the Red Bulls' families. This unique coverage salutes all the Soldiers and Guard families who have experienced a deployment in the past, while providing a model to those who will experience one in the future.

By spanning three powerful media components (GXonline.com, the GX Intel e-newsletter, and 250,000 copies of its bimonthly printed edition), GX magazine is detailing the preparations of mobilization, the battle for Freedom, and the indescribable joys of coming home, all through the tales of one brigade. In doing so, the magazine hopes to remove some of the stigmas and mysteries of having loved ones in a theater of war.

All Talking with Heroes talk shows can be listened to Live Sunday nights at 5pm PST from the www.talkingwithheroes.com website. Previous talk shows can be heard in our past show archives 24 hours a day/7 days a week, from anywhere in the world where there is access to the internet and can be downloaded onto iPODs.
