Indian Ocean (March 30, 2006) - A U.S. Navy Visit, Board, Search and Seizure (VBSS) team from the amphibious dock landing ship USS Oak Hill (LSD 51), boards the MV Bhakti Sagar, a motor vessel recently released by Somalian pirates. The boarding came after the Bhakti Sagar requested assistance. During a ship-to-ship transfer, Oak Hill provided approximately 3000 gallons of fresh water, 110 pounds each of flour and rice, processed meat and two cases of meals ready-to-eat (MRE’s). The 15-man Indian crew also received a hot meal from the ship’s galley and 3,900 gallons of JP5 diesel fuel and medical supplies.
