The Passing of a Hero

SlagleRock points out that some of us in the MilBlog community failed to note the passing of a hero - the first Blue Angel, Retired Navy Capt. Roy "Butch" Voris. It is an omission that for my part I really need to correct.

Voris was hand-picked by Admiral Chester Nimitz to organize the elite flight demonstration team. He followed his career as a pilot with work that, among other things, included helping to develop the F-14.

He passed away last Wednesday at his home in Monterey, CA, at the age of 86.

You can read more about Capt. Voris here.

Godspeed to this Hero, and our condolences to his family and loved ones.
