Pentagon: No delay in getting aid to victims of hurricane

Amid growing criticism that Hurricane Katrina relief efforts moved too slowly, Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld and Joint Chief of Staff Richard B. Myers said Tuesday that there was no delay in getting aid to victims. The Defense Department began pre-positioning assets in the area before the storm hit, Rumsfeld said.

In spite of deployments, DODDS test scores go up
Students attending Defense Department schools continue to score higher than the national average despite the high number of deployments in the past three years. Terra Nova standardized test results released in July show students who attend Department of Defense Education Activity schools scored 10 to 20 points above average in 37 of the 45 subtest scores this past spring.
