For a recap, the contest was an effort to find a more politically-correct way of referring to the terrorists, sparked by the Canadian Broadcasting Company's memo (here, in the infamous poster post) stating that "terrorist" should not be used to describe anyone, since it might be construed as "taking sides."
My husband's offering: "religiously challenged." (And before the hatemail comes in, read "challenged" because they warp their own religion, not a slight on the religion in general)
However, since I can't actually see myself typing that everytime I want to talk about murderous, evil, scum-sucking terrorists, I suppose that for the purposes of this blog, the terrorists will just have to remain...well....terrorists.
Be afraid. Be very afraid.
P.S. - American and British media sources are Etch-a-Sketching (boy does THAT date me....what happens when you shake an etch-a-sketch...?) the word terrorist, too...
